About this Program

The practice of palliative care — providing relief from symptoms and stress and improving the quality of life for those suffering from serious illness — has grown steadily in recent years. This trend has created a need for high-quality palliative care training and education for professionals in medicine, nursing, social work, spiritual care and other disciplines.

In this three-course graduate certificate program, you’ll learn the foundational skills for delivering integrated, person-centered palliative care using a team-based approach. We’ll explore three key areas of palliative care practice: person-centered communication, interprofessional team training and program sustainability. You’ll gain insight into quality metrics, communication methods, family dynamics, grief issues and other important factors for this complex type of patient care.

All courses are taught by top faculty and instructors from the UW Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence. See the program website or contact pctc@uw.edu for more information.
