About this Course


In this course, you’ll examine the processes and patterns of typical child speech and language development, as well as documentation methods. You’ll learn how to describe both the basic development in terms of form, content and use, as well as the connections between language acquisition and other domains of development.

What You'll Learn

  • How to describe and analyze the processes involved in typical child speech and language acquisition from birth to age 5 years
  • How to identify and describe typical speech development and receptive and expressive language development, including form (phonology, morphology, syntax), content (semantics) and use (pragmatics)
