About this Course


Well-crafted, powerful fiction never falls out of fashion. Whether you want to write like the greats of the past, emulate the best authors of today or forge your own unique style, you’ll need to learn how writing great fiction works from the inside out.

In this course, you’ll gain an overview of the key elements of storytelling craft. We’ll explore the foundations of American literary themes and the convention of realism. You’ll learn how to use an inciting incident to establish a story situation, and discover techniques for adding detail to create atmosphere and setting. Hone your writing and make your prose come alive.
