Meet the Instructor
Ayanda M. Masilela
Ayanda Masilela is an instructor and researcher who specializes in geographies of health. Prior to joining the UW Certificate in Geographic Information Systems program, she worked at the UW Center for Social Science Computation and Research, where she taught technical workshops and provided classroom support for fellow consortium programs.
Masilela’s most recent research examines health-seeking behaviors and the exchange of health knowledge in leisure spaces. Her previous research includes geospatial and quantitative analysis on prenatal care access and utilization, habitat and disease ecology, and urban transportation impact assessments. Masilela earned a Ph.D. in geography from the University of Washington.
