Douglas Barthold
Research Assistant Professor, CHOICE Institute
Douglas Barthold is a research assistant professor at the CHOICE Institute. He joined the faculty in 2018, after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics at the University of Southern California. He received his Ph.D. in economics from McGill University in 2015, with a specialization in empirical health economics.
Barthold’s research interests include the relationships between health policies, healthcare utilization and health outcomes and inequalities. Currently, his work focuses on two main areas: 1) Health economics and policy evaluations, primarily related to prescription drug insurance and provision and effects on chronic conditions and healthy aging, and 2) Pharmacoepidemiology and health services research related to Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
