Meet the Instructor

Larry Dzieza

Larry Dzieza has worked for more than 45 years at the local, state and federal levels of government, primarily in the areas of strategic planning, public finance and budgeting. Following retirement in 2018, he's been involved in local and regional public policy issues and political campaigns, and serves as the chair of the City of Olympia Council of Neighborhood Associations.

In Washington, D.C., Dzieza co-founded Federal Funds Information for States, a data service that provides states with information on federal grants. He also served as the director of policy for the National Association of State Budget Officers (NASBO).

In Washington state, Dzieza worked at several state agencies, including the Office of Financial Management, the Department of Licensing, the Office of the Chief Information Officer and the Office of Administrative Hearings. He's taught and lectured on public administration and technology in government at the Evergreen State College and the University of Washington. Dzieza earned a bachelor's degree in political science at Sonoma State University and a master's degree in intergovernmental relations at the University of Southern California.
